Ways to Save Money

Abstract: There must be dozens of ways to make a little money on the Web. Please share how you make extra money without getting a second job.

The most helpful and interesting website I came across to make a little cash online is Amazon's new website called Mechanical Turk.

What is Mechanical Turk?

It's many things to many people. "For people who want to earn money in their spare time, the Amazon Mechanical Turk website solves the problem of finding work that they can do wherever and whenever they want," states the website's Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ).

Very specific tasks are requested by businesses for you to complete. These tasks are called HITs, an acronym for a "Human Intelligence Task." Some HITs pay as little as $.01; these tasks usually take less than a minute to complete. An example is to proofread an advertisement.

An example of a $1.00 HIT is to "research basic facts about a restaurant (such as hours of operation, address, cuisine type) and enter the resulting information in a form." You will be amazed at the types of requests!

Each week Mechanical Turk will pay a cash reward to the best workers who have received the most number of "Great Answer" votes from answering Amazon Requester Inc.'s Research Question HITs.

This might be a great part-time gig if you're looking for some extra cash!
